Johan Bergelin: “Known as a playground for the mafia and the wealthy elite, mid-20th century Havana was home to many venues for listening to absolutely electrifying music, such as the Tropicana or the Buena Vista Social Club members' guild. The rhythmic pulsations of habanera, Latin jazz and salsa heard everywhere, along with the dazzling chorus girls, added to the allure of the tropical island. After the 1959 revolution, many establishments closed and with that ended an era of Havana. The scent of Havana is inspired by my uncle, who was a sailor, and his stories about Cuba."
